Multi-functional digital fault power quality recorders

The Elspec G5DFR multi-functional digital fault recorders are equipped with Elspec’s unique integrated PQZIP technology. The recorders comply with IEC 61850 MMS, GOOSE (Generic Object-Oriented Substation Event) messaging and Sampled Values (SV) and surpass IEC 61000-4-30 Class A requirements. The Elspec G5DFR continuously records and stores all waveform signals at a sampling rate of up to 1024 samples per cycle thanks to the patented PQZIP compression algorithm. This enables data analysis to be made at any time.

Its synchronization algorithm is based on several sources with an automatic hierarchy for the preferred source availability to assure that logged data from multiple units is synchronized & displayed on the same time scale with typical 1μs resolution.

Reliable root cause analysis, fast troubleshooting and complete power quality visibility

The uniquely creative internal architecture of the Elspec multi-functional recorders takes power quality monitoring to a whole new level. The power quality meters provide the ability to record the waveform at sampling rate of 1024 sample/cycle on-board for over a year of continuous measurment. All the Elspec metering and recording solutions are supported with their multi-vendor power quality management software, PQSCADA Sapphire. This combination of metering and software allows for the measurment and calculation of more than 5000 power parameters using the recorded waveform for display and reporting purposes. This guarantees the availability of the data you need for any event at any time.

Advanced power quality capabilities

Elspec PQZIP inside

  • Continuous waveform recording
  • Trigger free setup
  • 5000 power parameters at half cycle resolution
  • Easy deployment

IEC 61000-4-30 Class A

The digital fault recorder far exceeds the highest standards set by the power quality industry. The Elspec G5DFR series complies with standards for:

  • Aggregations
  • Time clock uncertainty
  • Flagging
  • Transient influence quantities

Superior Accuracy

Elspec’s pioneering measurement method utilises a dual-range gain of 2 x 16Bit. This provides a superior accuracy which far surpasses the IEC 61000-4-30 Class A requirements. The dual-range method is able to capture the finest details and deviations in all the power quality parameters.

Synchronized Monitoring

A unique time synchronization algorithm assures that logged data from multiple units is synchronized & displayed on the same time scale with typical 0.1 ms resolution. Every event on a grid is accurately analyzed for precise root cause analysis, behaviour propagation, and traced to its source.

Department for Energy Security and Net Zero | Energy Technology List

The Elspec digital fault recorders are approved on the DESNZ energy technology list. The ETL product approval and qualification process provides independent verification that the Elspec power quality products are in the top 25% of power and energy monitoring test instrumentation currently available on the market.  With the inclusion of the Elspec digital fault recorders, Power Quality Expert continue to be the largest stakeholder with the ETL for portable energy monitoring equipment.
